Moonee Creek Stormwater Quality Strategy

Urban Stormwater Runoff Treatment

Moonee site

Purpose

To treat urban stormwater runoff sufficiently to maintain pre-development water quality through the use of the proven computer modelling program: Model for Urban Stormwater Improvement Conceptualisation (MUSIC).

Objectives

  • To achieve a neutral scenario with respect to water quality leaving the site post-development;
  • To meet Coffs Harbour Council's objectives in its Urban Stormwater Management Plan (USWMP) 2000;
  • To select treatment measures integrating Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) objectives of bio-engineering strategies;
  • To obtain optimal water quality results;
  • To minimise impacts of urban stormwater on aquatic ecosystems, public health and amenity.

Industry Partners

  • Innovation Planning Australia Pty Ltd

Outcomes

  • A design which incorporates a series of stormwater controls including household rainwater tanks, swales, bioretention systems, a Gross Pollutant Trap and a wetland, all implemented to minimise the impacts to the environment from urban pollution.
